7th Hussars British South Africa Company Medal. Awarded to 4227 PTE T W FRANKLIN 7TH HUSS. Reverse embossed "Rhodesia 1896" and bears the clasp "Mashonaland 1897". Correctly engraved in capitals. Private Thomas William Franklin had served with the 3rd Dragoon Guards before transferring to the 7th Hussars in 1891. He is confirmed as being awarded the British South Africa Company Medal and would later serve during the Boer War being awarded the QSA with 5 clasps. During the Great War he volunteered for the Bemount Company Army Service Corps and was given the rank of Nagman. He served attached to the Remount Service
