Hampshire. Isle of Wight Rifles Victorian pouch belt plate. Good scarce die-stamped blackened brass crowned circlet inscribed ISLE OF WIGHT RIFLE VOLUNTEERS 1860 resting in oak and laurel sprays; Tower of Carisbrooke Castle to lined centre. Two screw posts. VGC Raised from 25th January 1860 onwards, grouped in July 1860 to form 1st Admin. Bn at Newport. Redesignated 5th VB Hampshire Regt 1885 and 8th Bn. 1908.
