7th Royal Lancashire Militia (Rifles) Officer’s Sword.
good and scarce Victorian example of a Light Infantry pattern sword. The blade is with etched crowned, entwined VR cypher. The obverse with a strung bugle and title “LANCASHIRE 7 ROYAL RIFLES”. The open guard with crowned strung bugle device, shagreen grip with twist wire binding. Complete with a steel scabbard fitted with two loose rings. The overall condition is good, the sword has been professionally refurbished during its working life. Minor age wear.
The 7th Royal Lancashire Militia (Rifles) was raised in Bury in 1855, it would later become part of the Lancashire Fusiliers.
