Royal Marine Artillery HMS Indefatigable Battle of Jutland Casualty Group of Three Medals. Awarded to RMA 8415 GR J.G. MUDDLE: 1914/15 Star (RMA GR MUDALE - incorrectly spelt), British War Medal, Victory Medal, (RMA GR). Medals loose and accompanied by an original photograph and a photocopy of an obituary newspaper cutting. Gunner John George Muddle was a pre war Marine Gunner having served 17 years, he had been wounded on three occasions before his death onboard HMS Indefatigable on the 31st May 1916 when she was hit by shells from the German battlecruiser Von der Tann caused an explosion ripping a hole in her hull, and a second explosion hurled large pieces of the ship 200 feet (60 m) in the air. Only three of the crew of 1,019 survived.
