Medals GC mounted as originally worn. Major General Edward Archibald Beck CB DSO was commissioned into the Royal Scots Fusiliers in 1900. During the Boer War he saw action at Frederickstad and Ruidam. Following the end of the Boer War he was attached to the Egyptian Army and was back with his regiment at the outbreak of the Great War. He embarked with his Regiment to France and in 1915 was promoted to Major with further promotion and a Staff appointment towards the end of the Great War. He was awarded the DSO in January 1916 and by 1918 had been Mentioned in Despatches on six occasions. After the war he remained with the Army and was appointed to the Small Arms School 1925-29 as Chief Instructor. In 1929 he was posted to command the 2nd Battalion KOYLI and took his Regiment for service in India. in 1933 he was appointed GSO Scottish Command and in 1935 Commanded the 2nd Infantry Brigade. He held the position of ADC to King George V and King Edward VIII from the 8th October 1935 to 19th April 1936. In 1938. Due to age he retired from the regular army and continued his military service with the Perthshire Home Guard and during the post war years with the Perthshire County Cadet Force until 1950. He was also appointed Honoury Colonel of the 4/5th Battalion Royal Scots Fusiliers. Her died in 1974
