Royal Naval Air Service WW1 RNAS presentation RN Officer's sword by Wilkinson. A very good clean and rare example, presented to Captain (Later RAF) William Hallett-Carpenter on being commissioned into the Royal Naval Air Service. The blade etched with Royal Arms and Crowned fouled anchor. Presentation panel PRESENTED TO LIEUTENANT W. To the forte the cutler's details of Wilkinson sword and blade number 50993 (1914/17 Period). Solid gilt metal non folding guard of Royal Navy pattern encloses the white shagreen grip and lion’s head pommel. Housed in leather scabbard with gilt metal mounts. The top mount with an early style locking bar. Near Parade condition GC. Captain William Hallett-Carpenter was commissioned into the RNVR RNAS in 1915 and served as an Armourer and Gunnery Instructor. He transferred to the RAF in April 1918 and was promoted to Captain.
