Napoleonic War Period 1803 Pattern Infantry Officer's Sword A good example, the single edged curved blade with 3/4 length engraved decoration incorporating a floral decoration and a stand of arms. The hilt of the regulation pattern with lion head pommel supporting a single bar guard with crowned GR cypher. The leather grip retaining twist wire binding. Housed in original unusual black leather and gilt mounted scabbard. Fitted with two loose rings and no frog button. The top mount with later engraved presentation:
PRESENTED TO COLONEL WILLIAM CLINTON BY THE OFFICERS & NON COMMISSIONED OFFICERS OF THE 55TH FOOT AS A MARK OF RESPECT MAY 1805.
