Victorian 1874 Pattern 2nd Life Guards State Sword

34 1/2 inch, single edged, hatchet point blade.  Wide fuller.  The forte etched with Victorian crown royal coat of arms and maker "Hawkes & Co London Manufacturer To The Queen".  Back edge numbered "1941".  Steel pierced guard with brass edge studs and scrolls.  Brass, overlaid Victorian crown over entwined "LG" over "2".  Brass, checkered pommel and steel backstrap.  Shagreen covered grip with twist wire binding.  Later replaced chamois and leather guard liner and sword knot.  Complete in its steel scabbard with brass chape and mounts.
