The address on the forwarding box is confirmed on the 1939 British Register as the home of F/S Richards. Flight Sergeant Leslie Reginald Richards was a navigator with 149 Squadron which operated the Short Stirling bomber. On the night of the 23rd/24th June his crew was tasked with a gardening trip, laying mines of Breast harbour. The sterling was hit by flak, engulfing the aircraft in flames, the bail out order was given three crew jumping over the sea, the remaining 4 crew members trapped in the aircraft which crashed at Plougonvelin.
