Badge. 76th Regiment of Foot Victorian Officer's shoulder belt plate circa 1848-55. Fine scarce seeded gilt rectangular plate with raised burnished edges mounted with large silver facetted rayed Maltese cross bearing gilt sprays of laurel, and palm surmounted by a crown resting on a HINDOOSTAN over NIVE. To the centre, a silver elephant over LXXVI. Below the sprays, a gilt scroll PENINSULA. Two hooks and two studs. VGC Became 2nd Bn. Duke of Wellington’s West Riding Regiment 1.7.1881
