Imperial Austrian Infantry Officer's shako by Moritz Tiller, Wien c. 1890-1914. Fine scarce example of black cloth with gold ‘Austrian’ pattern lace and leather peak edged with gold embroidery. A large gilt double-headed Eagle plate. Extending above the top is a worked gold boss cockade bearing the cypher of Franz Josef in embroidery on its black centre. Roan leather internal headband and crimson silk lining with maker's label retaining the usual large detachable chinstrap. Minor marks to the patent leather, otherwise generally VGC.
