German Third Reich. Luftwaffe WW2 Ehrenpokal Honour Goblet .
A good scarce example, the base impressed with “FEINSILBER ALPAKA AUFLAGE. JOH.WAGNER & SOHN”. The 20.5 cm high beaten silvered body embossed with Iron Cross on one side and fighting eagles on the other; oak leaf band to base with inscription “FÜR BESONDERE LEISTUNG IM LUFTKRIEG”. Engraved beneath the oak leaf band “OBERLEUTNANT HERBERT HERRMANN 22.02.43’. Rather polished so the seam is visible on one side, one or two minor dents. GC
Obtained by the vendor’s father in 1944 after D Day. Established in February 1940, the Goblet (Ehrenpokal) was awarded by the authority of Reichsmarschall Hermann Göring only to Luftwaffe aircrew ‘for special achievement in the airwar’.
