German Contract Chassepot Pattern Bayonet


similar to the M1869 Werder bayonet.  22 1/2 inch, single edged, yataghan blade.  Large fuller.  Forte dated 1869. Steel hook quillon crossguard and muzzle ring stamped "R5249".  Brass ribbed grip with steel locking spring.  Contained in its brass mounted leather scabbard.
