WW1 RND Hood Battalion 1917 Casualty Group of Medals. Awarded to BZ -484 Able Seaman Sidney Payne from Swansea and a veteran of the Gallipoli campaign who died as a result of bayonet wounds to the head.

Accompanied by a quantity of research Able Seaman Sidney Payne from Swansea one of five brothers serving with the colours of which all would be wounded. Sidney served with the Hood Battalion at Gallipoli and then transferred to the Western Front. He was reported wounded this being bayonet wounds to the head and succumbed to those wounds on the 27th October 1917.
