Royal Navy HMS Invincible Battle of Jutland Casualty Group of Three Medals. Awarded to J.38299 L.W. BIRD BOY 1 RN. 1914/15 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal. Medals loose. Boy 1st Class Leslie William Bird was born in 1899 and came from Earlsfield London. He joined the Royal Navy in April 1915 joining HMS Invincible in April 1915. He was Killed at the Battle f Jutland when the armour of one of Invincible’s gun turrets was penetrated, causing her to be blown in half by a magazine explosion She was lost with all but six of her crew of 1,032 officers and ratings.
