WW2 RAF 21 OTU Navigator Casualty Group of Medals. Awarded to 1585078 Sergeant Ronald Dunstan Kempthorne who was lost on air operations on the night of the 30th August 1944.

Forwarding box addressed to E Kempthorne, Penzance. 1585078 Sergeant Ronald Dunstan Kempthorne had qualified as a Navigator and was serving with 21 OTU when on the night of the 30th August 1944 he was briefed for a diversionary sortie. His Wellington bomber failed to return, it is believed they were lost over the North Sea following being hit by AA near the target or by a convoy of the coast. One crew member was washed ashore. The address label on the forwarding box is confirmed. He is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial.
