Dorset Rifle Volunteers post 1878 Victorian helmet plate. Good scarce die-stamped blackened brass crowned Maltese cross bearing PRO PATRIA circlet with strung bugle to voided centre. Arms bear DORSET RIFLE VOLRS.; fasces to bottom arm. . Three loops . VGC Became a VB of the Dorsetshire Regt. on 1st July 1881 but continued under its rifle volunteer status.
