1st (Royal) Dragoons 1871 Pattern Helmet. A good example. White metal skull decorated with laurel leaf front band and oak leaf backstrap; to the front a brass star with applied white metal Garter; brass 1 to the black leather centre. A brass spike supports a black horsehair plume with rose boss. To each side, a brass rose head boss supports a brass chin chain with leather backing (stitching faults). Original leather lining to interior. Minor service wear otherwise GC. Gordon Dine Collection
