21st Lancers first pattern Victorian lance cap plate circa 1897-98. A good scarce short lived die-stamped brass triangular fluted plate bearing Royal Arms with mantled Royal Crest set on crossed lances, bi-part scroll 21ST LANCERS. Two screw posts to reverse, complete with hooped securing nuts. VGC Converted from Hussars to 21st Lancers on 31st March 1897. Redesignated 21st (Empress of India’s) Lancers in December 1898 and adopted a new lance cap plate.
