Scots Guards Falklands War Northern Ireland MID Accumulated Campaign Service Medal Group of Five. Awarded to Warrant Officer Alan Bunyan, who fought as a junior Lance Corporal with G Company 2nd Scots Guards at Mount Toubledown and his Company photograph taken after the battle would become one of the most iconic images of the Falklands War. He was later awarded a Mention in Despatches for outstanding service in Northern Ireland 1990/91.
Comprising: South Atlantic Medal with rosette 24530797 L CPL A BUNYAN SG, Campaign Service Medal, clasp Northern Ireland, MID Oakleaf LSGT SG, Nato Former Yugoslavia Medal, Queens Golden Jubilee Medal, Accumulated Campaign Service Medal WO2 SG. The group remains court style as originally mounted.

Warrant Officer Alan Bunyan enlisted into the Scots Guards in April 1981 and on completion of Training was posted to the 2nd Bn, promoted Lance Corporal within 6 months of his posting he was on his way to War, to recapture the Falklands Islands. At Mount Tumbledown he was second in command of a point Company they were tasked with the job of taking out two Argentinean heavy machine guns. Spotted as the Company advanced the Argentineans withdrew more into the rocks and laid down constant mortar and sniper fire. None of the Platoon were hit and after the battle Bunyan's platoon would be captured by photographer Paul Haley cheering and grinning the image becoming one of the most iconic photographs of the war with Bunyan in the middle SLR rifle in hand.
Returning to the UK normal life and training resumed including Ceremonial and tours in Northern Ireland of which Bunyan served on a number of occasions. His certificate of service shows he qualified as a specialist surveillance operator and co-ordinator.
A popular member of the Regiment he retired after 23 years service in 2004.
