WW1 Royal Garrision Artillery Military Cross 1914 Mons Star Officer's Group of Medals. Awarded to Lieutenant David Deacon MC, who had previous served in the ranks landing in France on the 22nd September 1914.
Comprising: Military Cross (in case of issue), 1914 Star "24825 BMBR: D DEACON RGA", British War Medal, Victory Medal, "LIEUT". The medals are now loose with matching ribbons and appear to have been mounted and worn at some time. Military Cross London Gazette 10th January 1919.
Lieutenant David Deacon landed in France with the 109th HB RGA on the 23rd September 1914. H had served in the ranks for 10 years before receiving a commission on the 18th November 1916 with promotion to Lieutenant on the 18th May 1918. After commission he was posted to the 121st HB RGA originally formed mostly by men of the Glamorgan Royal Garrison Artillery, during the closing stages of the war it was heavy involved in the finial battles and Deacon received his Military Cross for gallantry during this period.
