53rd (Shropshire) Regiment of Foot Victorian Officer's shako plate badge circa 1869-78. Fine scarce die-stamped rich gilt crowned laurel sprays enclosing the Garter, the finely seeded centre pierced with stencilled numerals 53. Loops. VGC Following Cardwell’s reforms of the Army, 53rd became 1st Bn King’s Light Infantry on 1st July 1881, later KSLI.
