French Cavalry Pattern Helmet. A fine quality example by B. FRANCK & SES FILS, AUBERVILLIES numberted 54. The gilt skull, with silvered line edging. To the front a silvered helmet plate embossed with a flaming grenade device. To the left side a silvered plume holder (incorrect plume glued in place) and to the crown, is a silvered metal comb, to each side floral leaf decoration. The front is with a Medusa head looking forward, from the comb a black horse hair brush plume. A pair of lion head embossed circular bosses support a set of leather backed brass chin scales.
