Dorset Rifle Volunteers Victorian helmet plate badge c. 1878-87. Good scarce die-stamped example unusually in white metal. Crowned Maltese cross, lions between the arms, bearing circlet inscribed PRO PATRIA, strung bugle to voided centre. Top arm of the cross inscribed DORSET, the left RIFLE, the right VOLS with fasces to bottom arm. Three toned loops. VGC Provenance. Ex Hugh King Collection, Bosleys.
