Irish Westmeath Rifles Militia Victorian glengarry badge circa 1874-81.
Good scarce die-stamped brass (originally blackened) crowned curled bugle horn with shamrock to centre, all resting on straight tri-part Gaelic scroll. Three loops. GC Raised in 1793 at Mullingar as Westmeath Militia, redesignated Westmeath Rifles in 1855 and became 9th Bn. Rifle Brigade on 1st July 1881.
