Royal Engineers 1857 Pattern Officer's Sword

32 1/4 inch, dumbbell blade with central fuller.  Etched foliage scrolls, central lightening bolt and crowned flaming grenade VR cypher.  Forte with faint etched maker's details.  Brass foliage pierced bowl guard.  Brass checkered pommel and part checkered backstrap.  Shagreen covered grip with twist wire binding.  Contained in its brass scabbard with two loose hanging rings.  Minor dents to scabbard.  Complete with later gilt sword knot.
