Dark blue melton cloth with wide 2 inch band of bullion regimental pattern lace of shamrock design. The crown with bullion cord loop decoration and central pearl button. The interior with leather sweatband and crimson silk lining. Some age wear and dulling to lace. Button damaged. Accompanied by an original photograph of Major Crofton wearing the pill box cap and another image of him in full dress uniform.
