Victorian Manchester Rifle Volunteers Officer's Sword. Avery good early example of the Rifles pattern. The slightly curved single edged blade is etched with a crowned VR cypher, a strung bugle with title "Manchester Rifles" The forte with the retailer's details of S & S Smith of Manchester. The hilt with a steel open guard incorporating a crowned Bugle device. The shagreen grip with twist wire binding. Housed in leather and steel mounted scabbard. Etching very clear. Overall good clean condition.
