12th Royal Lancers lance cap circa 1905-14. Very good scarce example. Black patent leather body, peak and crown top with ornate gilt metal fleur bosses to each corner. Between the skull and mortar board, red ribbed cloth. Front bears regimental post 1905 brass triangular fluted plate displaying Boer War honours. Lion head bosses to each side support a brass chin chain. Woollen cord boss with regimental Victorian button supports a scarlet horsehair plume. Leather and waxed cotton sweatband lining to the interior. The cap retains a good shape. GC. Gordon Dine Collection
