Irish Londonderry Militia Victorian Officer helmet plate circa 1878-81.
Fine rare silvered crowned star mounted with VITA VERITAS VICTORIA circlet resting in laurel sprays; the velvet centre bearing silvered skeleton atop a mountain between two castles. Three loops. VGC Raised as Londonderry Militia in 1793, redesigned Londonderry Light Infantry in 1855. Became 4th Bn. of Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers 1st July 1881, in May 1882 converted to Artillery as 9th Bde. North Irish Division.
