Badge. Rifle Brigade Victorian Officer's helmet plate circa 1878-84. Fine scarce blackened silver example with burnished highlights. Mounted on a large eight pointed star, laurel wreath surmounted by a crown resting on WATERLOO; within the sprays, a Maltese cross with lions between the arms and balls to the tips. To the centre of the cross, within a circlet RIFLE BRIGADE, a crowned strung bugle. The arms of the cross bearing numerous honours with further on the laurel which also bear THE PRINCE CONSORT'S OWN.
